When you wake up, sit somewhere quiet for a few minutes. Close your eyes and begin:
In your mind’s eye, see the distant sun and stars wheeling through the galaxy’s vastness. Consider your place in the grand scale of time and space in the universe. Let your modest position grant you perspective on your life.
Remember that some things are under your control and others are not. Think about the day ahead and choose to focus on what you control, releasing worry about everything you don’t.
Consider your biggest task of the day and how it might go wrong. Figure out how you’ll respond with calm and focus if things go awry, and be pleasantly surprised if they don’t.
Most importantly, decide that whatever the day throws at you, that you’ll respond with wisdom, justice, courage, and moderation — the four Stoic virtues.
Easier said than done! Job is super stressful, I am finding it difficult to remain Stoic.
