I feel your pain on the autoimmunity. It was a hell that led to a level of gratitude I never thought possible. After all the foods I have had to strip away, the taste of a raspberry is enough to drop me to my knees in gratitude

Yes! Simple foods can be incredible if you're coming from bland. I once did a long water fast and hadn't eaten anything in 26 days and tasted some lettuce and I thought...hu...this lettuce is actually sweet! It had always been sweet, of course, but it was only when everything else had been removed that I noticed. Most foods that contain any carbohydrates taste sweet compared to water.

You did a 26 day water fast? No salt or vitamins or minerals? That is incredible. I had done a 7 day and several 5 days but, 26 is extraordinary

Yes. I did it under medical supervision. Just water, but if I were to do it again (I'm not planning to, as valuable as the experience was for me) I would consider some salt and minerals.

That is incredible. Should you write an essay on whet the mind goes through in 26 days of not eating, that would be a powerful piece.

I find this essay incredibly valuable! These types of situations are so powerful to reflect on because we have skin-in-the-game. They actually DID impose the hardship, yet we ARE growing from the experience. When we realize this and help others understand this, we have soul-in-the-game! Thanks for this Andrew!
